In Support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
From homemade caramels and a pancake breakfast, to mouth-watering bake sales, Plinko, and even a pay-to-peg-the-management with water balloons event, Solutionaries went above and beyond to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for the second year in a row in finding a cure for blood cancers.
Solutionaries divided into teams to compete in the epic Coin Wars in hopes of exceeding last year’s donation of over $31,000 to the LLS. After a month-long effort and engaging in healthy and somewhat (more like extremely) competitive activities, #MostlyForTheChildren #ButAlsoForTheBraggingRights, we managed to nearly double that number by raising more than $50,000! And Team #1 was not too proud to brag about being the victors of the 2015 Coin Wars.
As usual, A LOT of thought, time and effort went into putting this event together, as well as the Solutionrun, and it was most definitely worth every drop of blood, sweat and tears it took as we were fortunate to hear from, and have participate with us, some children and families whose lives have been impacted by leukemia and other blood cancers. As these brave families expressed their gratitude for our passion to give back, it was clear that they touched many hearts and inspired many lives with their determination to live life to its fullest and never give up hope of finding a cure.
Although Solutionaries are scattered across the country, all were able to participate in some way so that they could feel united with their fellow employees, whether it be by walking or running in their own neighborhoods and communities or donating money to the cause.
Each and every employee at Solutionreach is amazing in their own way, but it isn’t often that the CEO of a company steps up, fully engaged and committed to giving back every opportunity he gets. During this month-long effort, and just as he does each and every day, Jim Higgins showed us what it means to be a true leader. One Solutionary had this to say about Jim:
“It isn’t too often that we get to see Jim out of the corner office. He has a ‘mantra’...the elusive, the busy, the Big Boss; sometimes that reputation precedes him because we don’t all have time to get to know him.
It is important to note…or at least convey… that even after running his half marathon, working all week to make sure everything was dialed in for the event (yes, he had great help), Jim was the the physically tired, mentally beat CEO. He was also the last man cleaning up. Chairs, tables, food tear down…that was all him and a handful of like four other people. He was the one working till sundown making sure all was well. Not too many people will care. Not too many people noticed.
I found it inspiring.”
As is tradition, fundraising efforts for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society culminated in their Light the Night celebration, which we were honored once again to be a part of. We are sure this employee speaks for all who were there:
“What a pleasure it is to be a part of such a generous company as Solutionreach. Raising money to fight LLS was an opportunity to be repeated several times over and for each of us, a complete honor to do so. Being forever thankful and hugging your children and grandchildren a bit tighter is an after-effect of this month of charity.
