Recently, the FCC updated some of its rules related to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA). This is a U.S. federal law that regulates how companies contact consumers by telephone, fax, and text message. Because you may use the Solutionreach Platform to communicate appointment reminders and other information to your patients by text message and recorded telephone calls, this law applies to you. We have updated our platform to support your compliance with the new TCPA rules, and we want to make you aware of how these changes may impact you.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO NOW
Verify your text message templates, if needed. If you are currently using any non-compliant text message templates then you will see a notification banner in the platform when you login to the Overview page prompting you to verify your text message content before December 4, 2015.
If you are using our standard text message templates then you do not need to do anything. The Solutionreach Platform will automatically update for you.
If you are not using one of our standard default text message templates, then you will need to take action in order to continue using them.
Step 1: Click on Account Settings; Settings; Reminder Templates, and look for the section on the right that says “Needs Verification”. Any templates listed under this section must be correctly verified before they can be sent out.
Step 2: Click on one of the templates within the “Needs Verification” section, and then click the blue edit button in the top right corner.
Step 3: Mouse over to the text message section. Click your cursor at the end of the message, add a space, and then click on the “Insert Token” drop down menu. Select the $Opt_Out$ token.
Step 4: Click “Save”. Then check the box that asks you to verify that you meet TCPA requirements and click “Verify and Save”.
Step 1: Click on Message Center; Recall; Schedules, and locate both the Appointment Due Text Message and the Appointment Overdue Text Message on the right-hand side.
Step 2: Click the Appointment Due Text Message
Step 3: Click your cursor at the end of the message and add a space. Click “Insert Token” and select the $Opt_Out$ token.
Step 4: Click “Save”, check the box, and hit “Verify and Save”
Step 5: REPEAT the process for the Appointment Overdue Text Message
Eyewear (If applicable)
Step 1: Click on Message Center; Eyewear Notifications; Message Manager, and select the text template at the bottom.
Step 2: Click your cursor at the end of the message and add a space. Click the $Opt_Out$ token on the left.
Step 3: Click “Save”, check the box, and hit “Verify and Save”.
