Your Future Depends On It: Why Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Practices Need to Embrace Technology

We talk to our customers all the time – because we love feedback – and many of our plastic surgery and aesthetic practices have told us they are “beyond busy” with patients wanting to enhance their appearance and defy the aging process.

We get it. We’re on Zoom all the time, too, and we see the glaring imperfections of our own faces staring back at us! This phenomenon, known as the “Zoom Boom,” led to a surge in plastic surgery procedures. It was (and continues to be) the perfect combination of factors that led so many men and women to consider procedures to enhance their appearance. After all, we went from glancing at ourselves in the mirror just minutes a day, to staring at our own faces for hours a day in Zoom meetings!

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, that was enough to boost even more interest in the top five plastic surgery procedures:

    • Breast augmentation
    • Liposuction
    • Rhinoplasty (nose job)
    • Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)
    • Facelifts

And, since we were all stuck at home during a pandemic, those who decided to correct the now highly visible imperfections the Zoom screen reflected – or finally get that mommy makeover they’ve been putting off – could recover in private in the comfort of their own homes. Beyond these popular surgeries, there was increased demand for minimally invasive and nonsurgical facial procedures, too, including chin liposuction, Botox, and dermal fillers.

With the majority of Americans wanting to continue working from home even after pandemic restrictions are lifted, and estimates that by 2025, 36.2 million Americans will be working remotely – an 87% increase from pre-pandemic levels! – this boost in plastic surgery and aesthetic treatments shows no signs of slowing down.

Are you prepared? Are you providing the best possible digital experience for new and existing patients?

The time has never been better to implement the technology that’s available to your practice so you can offer online scheduling, appointment reminders, and even digital intake forms. Additionally, automating recall is a huge time-saver in getting overdue patients back in for care and follow-up treatments.

If you and your team are struggling to stay afloat with the surge of patients wanting to enhance their appearance in some way, large or small, then it’s time to invest in your practice. Add a new “team member” who never takes vacations, and doesn’t need a lunch break. Check out these solutions that are available to you, or consider adding new ones:

Today’s post-pandemic patients are also looking for practices that offer a streamlined, digital experience. That means, they can easily find your practice online, request an appointment, text your office with questions, and receive appointment reminders via text or email. If your plastic surgery or aesthetics practice doesn’t provide this experience, patients will look elsewhere.
